Description

St. Godelieve Abbey, a former 17th-century Benedictine monastery, is undergoing extensive restoration. The walls surrounding this historic heritage site are currently being cleaned and the masonry repaired locally. This ambitious project is being carried out by the renowned construction company Artes Woudenberg, which specializes in the restoration of monuments.

During the restoration, the walls around the monastery will be cleaned and the masonry repaired locally. A lime mortar based on NHL 3.5 (Natural Hydraulic Lime) from Saint-Astier was used for both masonry and pointing, this mortar provides a durable and authentic finish. A special aspect is the use of the traditional day-striped grout, which contributes to the authentic look of the masonry.
