description

Saint Godelieve Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery from the 17th century, is undergoing a thorough restoration. The walls surrounding this historic heritage are currently being cleaned and the brickwork is being restored locally. This ambitious project is being carried out by the renowned construction company Artes Woudenberg, specialized in the restoration of monuments.

During the restoration, the walls around the monastery will be cleaned and the masonry will be restored locally. A lime mortar based on NHL 3.5 (Natural Hydraulic Lime) from Saint-Astier was used for both the masonry and the joints, which provides a durable and authentic finish. A special aspect is the use of the traditional striped grout, which contributes to the authentic look of the masonry.
